a heinous host of grungy electronicy alternative people with colourful clothes and ambiguous sexualities
More from Dylan Jones
Here’s something that’ll make a nice change if you’re a bit fed up of your local homosexual hive of debauchery subjecting you to a prancing, Maxi-dress wearing live music parade of Vanessa Hudgens clones and jilted X-Factor contestants (and Sophie Ellis-Bextor actually, we feel sorry for her though, we like her and her lovely angular face, what happened Sophie?*).
Next Saturday a heinous host of grungy electronicy alternative people with colourful clothes and ambiguous sexualities are playing at Camden club Koko’s The Playground. Koko’s great actually, it’s in an old converted theatre (once, thrillingly, called The Hippodrome) so it’s a bit like Moulin Rouge. That’s a completely over the top and glamourised description but that’s what we tell people and once they get there they’re usually drunk enough to believe it.
Most notable of the acts are French house music king Yusek, and queen bitch of underground electro Uffie;
Uffie is brilliant, she raps to bizarre synths about how men enjoy anal sex, she wears Nike trainers with wings on, and she always goes on about how she’s “ready to fuck” and advises everyone to “fuck all them haters”. In one of her more eloquent moments she said “I don’t give a fuck.” Hopefully though she’ll give enough of a fuck to actually turn up on Saturday. There's also a band called Sexy Sushi. We've never heard of them before but we really hope we like them because we want the words "Sexy Sushi" to come up on our Ipod at some point.
* = We have her new album. Love, The Rest Of Team GT.
