Richard Smith's News-spunk! Facebook Shops Gay Cop
A police officer has been turned down for promotion after his employer found some "very personal information" on his Facebook profile.
Inspector Chris Dreyfus, British Transport Police's head of royalty and government protection, was applying for the post of Chief Inspector with Bedford Police. But routine background checks found he'd already been given a written warning over his Facebook page, which contained "graphic details about his gay lifestyle and photographs showing him posing in his uniform at a London tube station."
In a statement Bedford Police said; "We were told he had a live sanction against him. Therefore we felt unable to proceed with the job offer."
Bedfordshire Police came 98th in this year's Stonewall Diversity Champions Index of the UK's most gay-friendly employers. British Transport Police 78th.
