Hampered in a good way

The other day, in the middle of a stressed moment, our receptionist-come-postperson-come-supply buyer-come-general office angel came staggering up to my desk with a huge parcel. Now, as Food & Drink Ed, I'm used to deliveries of PR promotional products (sometimes in the strangest packaging: one company decided last year that their client's bottled water would look fab on a piece of turf... turf in a box, the ultimate gift) and the raised eyebrows/ ill-concealed jealousy of my colleagues, but eyebrows rose to near facelift proportions when I began unpacking what turned out to be an amazing designer hamper from Harvey Nichols.

My very kind contact, Anna, the Foodmarket Manager, had sent it over as a pre-Christmas gift – what a sweetie. And what a generous gift! The £100 Hamper, presented in a box resplendent in a grey latticed wood-effect lithograph – simple but so stylish – contains an Aladdin's Cave of goodies, many presented in HN's iconic Own Label packaging.

We oohed and aahed over Champagne Christmas Pudding, Rum Butter, Chocolate Raspberries covered in white chocolate, jars of Mixed Olives in extra virgin oil and Roasted & Salted Mixed Nuts, a blend of spices for Mulled Wine, Christmas Spice biscuits, Champagne Truffles, Banana Eclairs, Champagne Brut NV, a 2006 Sauvignon Blanc,
a 2005 Vin Rouge and more.

Looks like the Christmas party budget is saved for another year. Hooray for St (Harvey) Nichs.
