When Mel got her grump on guest judging in 2012
Let’s not forget that Mel B was a guest judge on The X Factor back in 2012, and boy did she live up to her Scary Spice alter ego. The facial expressions said it all, but her comments afterwards hammered things home to the hopefuls trying to impress her. Hilarious.
When she refused to play by the rules
The year was 1997, the Spice Girls had released their film Spice World and one scene featured a friendly game of chess between Geri and Mel B. It wasn’t friendly for long, though, as Scary decides to break the rules, resulting in Ginger threatening violence, well… Sort of. You kinda need to see it.
When Scary teamed up with Missy Elliott
Releasing her debut solo single I Want You Back, Mel teamed up with the one and only Missy Elliot to score a UK number one back in 1998. It marked a distinct change in genre for the singer, and the video was really quite creepy. It’s pretty much the best solo song a Spice Girl has ever released.
The time she was a giant and terrorised London
We’ve all seen this advert right? Those of us who’ve been home on a weekday afternoon surely have. Perhaps contestants will run from her the way the pedestrians do in this ad, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some diva remarks.
And finally… The shortest, most northern rap in history
Back in the days of the Spice Girls, the time of platform shoes, Game Boys, clashing colours and of course, Girl Power; there was Say You’ll be There, the girls’ second single and second number one. Providing a brief rap before the final chorus is Mel B, it’s short, it’s northern, and it’s fantastic.
