Sodomy laws were repealed in Wisconsin through legislative action in 1983. Wisconsin is one of the 13 US states which has anti-discrimination laws protecting lesbian and gays. The legislation covers public and private employment, public and private housing, education, credit and union practices.
The Wisconsin climate is typically continental with some modification by Lakes Michigan and Superior. This means very cold winters and warm summers.
During more than one-half of the winters, temperatures fall to -40c or lower, and almost every winter temperatures of -34c or colder are reported. In summer temperatures rarely exceed 30c. Average precipitation over the state is between 700mm and 850mm.
The best time to visit is during the summer months.
