Aim: The Post-Adoption Centre (PAC) is a registered charity which supports all those affected by adoption. This is a group for adopted adults who identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual to share common experiences. Our experience at PAC is that the issue of identity can be complicated by a history of adoption. Raising the issue of sexual preference with the adoptive parents also raises anxiety about rejection and acceptance which are core issues for anyone who has been adopted. Similar feelings may occur when thinking and preparing for reunions with birth families.
Price is £17 per session or £12 for those resident in a local authority which subscribes to PAC (for a full list of subscribing authorities visit PAC's website www.postadoptioncentre.org.uk). For further details contact PAC's Training Department on 020 7284 0555, email training@postadoptioncentre.org.uk
PAC also operates a daily advice line where anyone affected by adoption can speak to qualified and experienced counsellors. The advice line number is 0870 777 2197 (national rate) or 020 7284 0555 (local rate) and is open between 10.00am and 1.00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursdays.
