Martinique has been an overseas department of France since 1946 and is therefore part of France. Martinique has a small, discrete gay scene that in recent year has been developing but nonetheless the islands remains conservative. Martinique makes a good destination if you want somewhere quiet but with some gay life. There is one gay club two mixed bars and one gay beach- Les Salines (to get here, park at the far end of the car park near sign "Petite Anse des Salines." Then walk down the path through thick woods and foliage to the beach.

Climate
Martinique has a tropical climate with relative humidity ranging from 77 to 85% all year. The best time of year to visit is December to May which are generally the cooler and drier months.
There wet season is from July to November and the southern area of the island tends to be drier while Average temperature ranges in Fort de France are from 21c to 29c between January and March to 23c to 31c between June and October.
